Thief!

Just heard from Mum today that our house in Semarang got robbed on Tuesday. Three men turned up in a silver sedan while the house is empty, only Mbak Wiwik, the maid was there. It's not usually that quiet, Dad was doing his physio-therapy at the hospital, and Pak Man (the driver) was asked to go somewhere else. The guys told the maid they're to fix the AC. My maid didn't believe them at first, but they looked like gentlemen and one of the guys pretended to make a phone call to my dad's mobile. Then she let them into the terrace. They asked for coffee, my maid said we have no coffee, so they asked for tea. She then boiled some water to make tea. Then while she's doing her business not noticing them, they went inside my mum's room from the window. They must have done it all in 5 minutes, because when my maid wanted to give the tea, they'd already left. Only then she knew they had entered my mum's room thru the window. When she was panicking, my dad came back. She reported everything, and dad went in to check the damage. They took some money from my mum's wallet in the drawer, but there were only about 600,000 rupiahs (less than 50 pounds) in there. Luckily that day my mum didn't keep large amount of money at home. The wallet actually still had a few hundred thousands rupiahs more, but they didn't notice it. My mum's wallet has subsections where she puts 20,000 notes, 50,000 notes and 100,000 notes separately. They didn't take the 100,000 notes! They also took my mum's cash box. I guess they were in a hurry so they didn't open the cash box first. The cash box is very heavy, but it only has overseas coins in there :D They didn't even look properly because on top of the table there were jeweleries lying about. My mum's rings, my dad's ring, watches, etc. That would have set us back at least 10 million rupiahs. All in all, they took only petty cash, including a box full of coins, so we're all feeling very grateful.

However, since they took the cash box, my mum also lost the key to her safe deposit box in the bank (the key was in that box full of coins). That she had to report the bank and the police and the notary and they had to forcefully open the box next Tuesday. That'll cost her around 1.5 million rupiahs. So that's the most expensive thing they took but useless for them.

Apparently the next day there was a similar robbery in Jalan Sisingamangaraja 103. Instead of 3 men there were 6, they also used AC servicing as an excuse, but this time they got more. Handycam, and some million rupiahs worth of jeweleries. Looking at our circumstances, we were very lucky!

My mum told me another sad news this morning. Astrid lost the baby :( I know how much she and her husband had wanted it, and this must have been a big blow for them. I hope she'll be fine and strong. I feel so sorry for her, especially coz I just talked to her the day before yesterday and she was in a good mood talking about the baby and all.. (while i was complaining coz all i feel is nausea, and she didn't get nauseated at all). It makes me scared a little, realising how fragile this tiny creature is.

Nagi cooked some tofu with brocoli yesterday. And oh how unedible that is! Sorry, I know he's trying very hard and had done everything for me lately, but that food is as disgusting as Yovita's burnt seafood. He was very nice though then he went to KFC and get me some chicken and fries (although he was grumpy when I asked him to). I finished it in one go! *big hug.. sorry for being such a nuisance :( *
