Baby steps

Agastya is learning how to walk. At the moment he's full speed in walking while holding onto someone's hands. I've tried to encourage him walking by himself, and the result is quite impressive. He could walk at least 3 steps all by himself!! Three little steps, then I'd need to catch him before his precious bum hits the floor.. Heh heh..

He loves food, all food. Even when his tummy is full after his feed, if he sees someone is eating something, he'll drool and will make this yummy yummy face. However, he get easily bored. He cannot have the same meal for lunch and dinner. He'll spit it out. Actually, he doesn't spit it out. He blurts it out everywhere. I have to vary his food otherwise he'll complain. You should see him eat when he's happy with what he's eating. Very satisfying. I don't think I've ever seen a baby with that big an appetite. If he's in the mood, he'll get mad if I am late in delivering the next spoonful of food to his mouth. If his mouth is empty and the spoon is no where close to his mouth, he'll make this distinct complaining sound. Heh heh.. He's so cute. I guess all mothers will say their babies are cute. It comes with a mother's job description. However in my case it's really true :p My baby is the cutest :p No contest. :p

But if he's not in the mood (that means he's not that hungry yet, or he's bored with that particular food), he'll splash it everywhere. His mouth is like a propeller. He'll be cunningly taking one big spoonful in, and then immediately propel it out so that everyone are covered with his food!!! Grrrrrrrrr….

He was weighed yesterday, 11.2 kgs. I don't notice the increase. Yes, he has always been heavy!! :D

Agastya is not very good with strangers or being in a new environment. He's very happy and bubbly at home with familiar faces, but once we take him out of his 'usual environment', say to my mom's friend, he'll become very alert. He'll look at new people as if they're going to bite him. One touch (depending on the touch, I suppose) and he'll cry. Inconsolable, sometimes. The only way to stop the cry is to take him far away from the crowd, being only with the person he knows.

Like today for example, I had to get my battery replaced for my watch. So I went to this friend of dad who owns a watch shop and I took him with me. He did not cry, not even once, but he was definitely 'not feeling at home'. He put on this suspicious look all the time while looking at everyone and everything. Although he did not cry, you would not see him laugh, not a single noise or sound came out of his mouth. Not even a smile! Only after we got back to the car, he started smiling, laughing and making noises again. Oh, baby!!!

Cruel deed in Bali

I was watching "Who wants to be a millionaire" when I saw breaking news "Bomb in Bali… 6 explosions. Two at Jimbaran, two at Kuta Square, two at Nusa Dua."

Shocked, all of us were glued to the television, just like when I was in Cambridge on the day the London bombs exploded. The fact that the bombs exploded at 18:50 and 19:05 local time was cruel, since it's Saturday night dinner time so surely those areas were crowded.

For those who needs up-to-date information, from Metro TV (Indonesian News TV Channel) I just heard that news about the 6 bombs were incorrect. There were no explosions in Nusa Dua. There were two major explosions each in Jimbaran and Kuta. The one in Jimbaran was near the Four Seasons hotel, and the one in Kuta was outside the Raja Café.

21 people were killed and 74 people are injured from various nationalities.

People who died and have been identified:
1. Aiko Kawasaki (Japanese)
2. Brandon Fiztgerald (Australian)
3. Jennifer (Australian)
4. Erwin Sindu (Indonesian)
5. Tengku Dafransah (Indonesian)
6. Gusti Ktut Sudana (Indonesian)
7. Darmawan (Indonesian)

15 other casualties had not yet been identified, amongst them 4 Koreans and 2 Australians.

People in intensive care at Sanglah Hospital who have been identified:
1. Maria Parker
2. Erna Nurmawati
3. Ermi Kawasaki
4. Toni
5. Siska
6. Kadek Ardani
7. Rita
8. Kim Mi Yong

Sorry I didn't catch half of the other names because I was in a rush to blog this (sleepy).

45 total people in intensive care at Sanglah Hospital, however 29 had not yet been identified.

POSKO HOTLINE is set up for families needed information for their loved ones:
+62 361 744 9872
+62 361 745 2307

Victims in Graha Asih (Kuta, Bali) with minor injuries:
Dwi Nugroho, Kembang Astini (from Jimbaran)
Mulyadi (from Lombok)
Yusuf Suprapto, Jatmiko & partner, Juliet (from Taman Griya, Denpasar, Bali).

21 people with more major injuries from the same hospital are from Indonesia, Australian, Japanese. They've been moved to Sanglah Hospital.

There are still people who are not yet identified.

I saw the President's speech about this matter around 10 pm, he said he'll go to the location tomorrow morning.

Tonight I thought I was only going to blog about what I found strange in Indonesian version of "Who wants to be a millionare". In UK, whenever there is a "Who wants to be a millionaire - Celebrity special", automatically it is assumed that the money will be donated to charity. This Indonesian version of "Who wants to be a millionaire" does not have the same principle. As far as I know, these celebs are 'invited', not through 'qualifications' like other people. They didn't need to call and answer any questions to get through. They're simply invited. Plus, these celebs are considered the 'high-earners', and although money is money, but the necessity for it is different. I am not saying celebs aren't normal people, but because they're invited and they earn money easily (unlike some other people who go through normal selection), they should give the money to those who deserve more. I found it shameful and irritating.

Also I disagreed with one of the questions. It translates to "Hercule Poirot is a detective who are partnered with Miss Marple, and his characters appears in novels written by…?" Obviously, Agatha Christie was the answer. However, as far as I know, Poirot never solve his cases together with Miss Marple. What a crap question, seriously. Bottom line, I'm disappointed with Indonesian version of "Who wants to be a millionaire".
