Aga phone home
Finally, after more than a month waiting, we got our telephone line connected. It's quite annoying not having a house phone, because people from overseas get charged a lot when calling us on the mobiles, and vice versa.
I had to wait for the Optus guy this morning to connect the phone so I did not go to Ritu's house. I forgot to tell her that I was not coming today too. The Optus guy came at around 11. When I was showing the guy all the phone sockets in the house, Ritu was standing there on the door with Risa on her hand and Lakshay had already gone inside. Ritu asked if she could leave Lakshay with me while she's bathing Risa. Of course I said yes.
Unsurprisingly the job took very long. The Optus guy had to make sure that it did not cut the broadband connection too. I was just too busy feeding Agastya and trying to entertain Lakshay at the same time. At one time when the guy entered the house again, he asked if I was Chinese because I looked one so he said. I said no, I'm Indonesian. He asked if I was a Chinese Indonesian and I said yes. Btw, he's Chinese himself. Then he asked whether I were a nanny. I said no, this is my son (pointing at Agastya). Then he looked so surprised and said that I look very young to have a son. Luckily he said 'a son' so at least he understood that Lakshay is not my boy. Otherwise that would have been a very big shock for him, huh? I just smiled, thinking probably I looked young because of the Winnie the Pooh PJ I was wearing. He then asked how old I was. I said 27 then he said "Wow, really? You look like a teenager!" I cursed the pink Winnie the Pooh PJ.
The guy left at 1, so it took around 2 hours for this phone to be connected. The first person I called was my mom, using the phone card, obviously.
I got crossed when I found out he had moved the bed to reach the phone connection in the bedroom. The fact that I knew the bed had been moved means he had not put it back to the right place! How annoying, since the bed is quite heavy and I have all this cushions so that Agastya doesn't bang his head while sleeping.
Lakshay got bored and he left. I tried my best to prevent him from leaving but to no avail. I quickly called Ritu to check if he had gone back. Ritu told me this incident where Lakshay was lost at Chadstone so I had a reason to be worried. Ritu said he's home, so all ends well.
Yesterday when I was at Ritu's, she cooked bread soaked in milk and cheese and fried it. It was very nice, Agastya seemed to enjoy it very much. Risa (Ritu's little girl who's just 5 days younger than Aga) did not like it and kept spitting it out. Ten minutes later, we noticed Risa kept scratching her face and neck. I asked Ritu if it's some kind of allergic reaction. Ritu said it could be, because it was the second time she gave Risa eggs, and the first time was very very long ago. Risa is also allergic to peanuts, and she showed similar reactions when that happened. Ritu started to panic. Me too. Probably I would have panicked even more had it been Agastya who had the reactions. I kept looking at Agastya just to check if he's alright. He was happy and no reactions seen. Thank God for that.
Ritu rubbed some cream on Risa's face and neck, and I could see this poor little girl was not feeling comfortable, can't keep her hands off her face and neck. Kept scratching and oh it was all read and spotty! Ritu took her outside, but it was not getting any better. She called her husband and her husband asked her to give Risa some cough medicine because it normally has antihistamine in it. When Ritu found out that all her cough medicines had expired, I quickly went home and took mine over. I had to bring Agastya home at that time because it was lunch time, and Ritu had decided to put Risa to sleep, so I just went home after telling her to knock on my door if she needed anything.
A few hours later I called and Ritu said the reactions on the face and neck seemed to be fading away but she didn't realise that Risa got the reactions on the stomach and thighs too, but they are fading away too. I saw Risa today and she seemed okay. Oh poor thing, must have been very uncomfortable!
