Ox or Buffalo?
Happy Chinese New Year everyone!!!
Now, my question to all Chinese people out there (real Chinese, not fake like me) or those who know, is the year "Ox" or "Buffalo"? I swear this is not a stupid question, just giving the credit to whoever animal was supposed to take the throne.
As far as I know, Ox is not a Buffalo (Water Buffalo). Ox is.. male cow, the one who doesn't have udder. Even Aga knows that. The difference between Ox and Bull is that Ox is.. well.. castrated.
To those who's confused, in Indonesia it's called the Year of Water Buffalo (kerbau/carabao). Not Ox (sapi jantan / male cow). Not banteng (bull). It's definitely water buffalo.
Please enlighten me. What year is it now? Ox or Buffalo? They're different, seriously, so please don't say who cares. The animal in question wants to know! My sister would be gutted to hear that her zodiac is not the one she had believed it was. Identity crisis on the way.
Now the other nagging question that Grace asked (which started out this whole ox/buffalo saga) was: do water buffalos moo??
I think to make it safe, one should say "It's the year an animal that looks like cow with horn".
