My son the engineer

Alert: Mother hen's proud moments. Look away if you don't want to read it. Shoo. I warned ya.

Agastya is soooooooo into building train tracks lately. We only have a limited number of track pieces but he's so creative even with just those pieces. He always makes sure the the end pieces joined together, and he always tried to make different ones. Trust me, I didn't help a bit. If I help it would look worse than this!

These are a couple of his designs:

Unfortunately, we really only have that number of pieces and one bridge (that red one), and he always make use of all the pieces we have. I should really buy some more. His track building skill is far superior than mine. Seriously, they may look easy to build, but I can't put the pieces back together if he asks me to. I'll end up with open tracks and he'll fix it.

He's been reading loads lately, and would point out signs on the street while we're in the car, or words written on TV, and read them. The writing part is also going along well. We're working on plus ones and plus twos. He's really doing well.

What is it?

[Keep reading, I will post the answer at the bottom of this post]

Lila has been copying everything Aga does, lately. When he drinks water from a tumbler, she would want to do the same. When he's writing on his writing pad, she'd search for a pencil and paper to scribble on. When he's building train tracks she'd sit in the middle of the whole thing and totally annoy him. When he started whispering to her (undoubtedly secret mission to occupy the toilet or something like that), she'd whisper words back to him. When he puts on his shoes, she'd take the shoes from the shoe racks and try to put them on herself, chanting "shoe.. shoe... le go (let's go)!" When he wakes her up in the morning she'd say "Aga, wha you doin?"

The down side about this period of time is that she's very suspicious to strangers and would cry easily in public.

The cutest thing Lila did today was when Aga said he had to go to toilet and ran upstairs. She started running behind him saying "Wait to me" (wait for me).

They're growing up so fast. I wish I could freeze time.

PS: The answer to my question above is 'a whale'. Does it look like one?

Shoot the girls

Saturday was feast day at Waterbeach. Ok, I have no idea what the occasion really was but I wanted to go and see the parade.

Aga's school chose the Cowboy / Cowgirl theme. Again, I have no idea why the theme had to start with "C" because, awkwardly, there were at least two units dressed up in Christmas attire with wierd looking Santas riding tractors.

Monica bought a Cowboy costume for Aga a month ago. I remember that since she bugged me to death when I was physically at the standards meeting in San Francisco.

The kids were to meet up at Aga's school (his primary school starting next year) since the parade was to start from there. I presume everyone from his toddler playgroup were present; they formed two gangs as far as I could comprehend. The Cowgirls and Cowboys.

They ran amock wielding novelty guns triggering as fast as their tiny fingers could. You could see cowgirls in pink hats making a run when they were out-numbered by the cowboys.

Aga screemed: Shoot the girls. Shoot the girls. Doosh, doosh, dooooosh

<<>>

You can imagine bullets whizzing past from either directions and the action was something better than what I normally see in Turner Movie Classics.

Aga continues: Kyle, Nunu, Samuel - Shoot the girls.

I am keeping an eye on Lila who was doing the "drunken master" walk / run all around caring least for who is running towards her or whether she should take any actions to evade. I was constantly running behind her with my camera.

Kyle starts shooting girls. The cowboys split, a concerted effort attempting to corner the cowgirls, I am sure.

Kyle points at Lila and shoots.

Aga runs towards him and says: No, don't shoot her. She is my friend. She is a girl, she is my friend - My girl friend.

I CRACKED UP INSTANTLY but I had no one there to share that moment.
